Pope Francis

The Community of the Sisters of Divine Providence of the Marie de La Roche Province comprising vowed members, Associates, and the Amici Cordis, joins our brothers and sisters worldwide in mourning the untimely passing of Pope Francis.

As a religious community co-founded by Bishop Wilhelm Emmanuel von Ketteler, a fervent advocate for social justice, we are deeply grateful for Pope Francis’s embodiment of the justice values that shape our spirituality, community life, and ministry. Compassion, justice, peace, and inclusivity are fundamental principles guiding our sponsored ministries.

La Roche University, Sacred Heart School, Providence Heights Alpha School, and Providence Connections are holistic educational institutions that prioritize dialogue, dignity, and the gospel call to service. La Posada Providencia and Room at the Inn offer hospitality, shelter, and education to those marginalized by violence, war, and homelessness. Kearns Spirituality Center serves as a nurturing space for people of all faiths.

Through each of these ministries, we strive to manifest God’s Providence. Pope Francis emphasized “The Church is called to go out of itself and go to the peripheries, not only the geographical ones, but also the existential peripheries: those of the mystery of sin, those of pain, those of injustice, those of ignorance and religious dispensation, those of thought, those of all misery.”

Honoring his legacy, we commit ourselves to continue to make God’s Providence visible on every periphery.
